Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (NYSE:FUN) reported third-quarter results that missed earnings expectations on Thursday, but its shares rose 5.3% in pre-market trading as investors focused on operational improvements and strategic progress, according to Investing.com.
The company posted a net loss of $3.59 per diluted share for the quarter ended September 27, 2026. Analysts had expected $1.98. The quarter included $687.7 million in non-cash impairment charges.
Revenue was $1.17 billion, in line with analyst estimates but down 11.0% on a reported basis. On a same-park basis, which excludes eight parks no longer operated, revenue rose 1.4%. Same-park adjusted EBITDA rose 1.1% to $493.2 million for the quarter.
Same-park attendance fell 0.2% to 18.2 million guests. Per capita spending rose 1.3% to $60.51. The active pass base grew 7.1% on a same-park basis to 7.1 million members.
CEO John Reilly said the results "reflect the progress we are making against our strategic priorities and the underlying strength of our portfolio." He added that the company delivered double-digit same-park adjusted EBITDA growth through the first nine months of the year.
For the fourth quarter, Six Flags expects same-park adjusted EBITDA between $140 million and $150 million, a midpoint of $145 million. That is below the $167 million reported for the prior-year fourth quarter. The company cited softer October results from unfavorable weather and an incident at Six Flags Over Georgia.
The company also cut its 2026 capital expenditure guidance to $350.0 million to $375.0 million, from $400.0 million to $425.0 million, citing the timing of large ride projects.
